Members of the Carbon River Pony Club took top honors in a pair of recent competition.

Most recent was the May 22-23 Tetrathlon Rally, which has girls jumping their horses, swimming, running and shooting air pistols.

In a field of 11 teams, the Carbon River Pony Club won first place.

The teams consist of four participants each. They are scored on their horse management, jumping, running times, swimming times and shooting accuracy. The teammates for Carbon River ranged in age from 6 to 11 and they competed against girls as old as 21. Teammates, and their horses, were Stephanie Miller on Monkey, Kelianne Kalin on Elmer, and Leah Matson and Kayla Dumler, both on Tucker.

Miller scored the highest overall in shooting and Matson won best overall combined individual score.

The jumping and running took place at Donida Farm in Auburn, swimming was at the Enumclaw pool and the shooting was at Cascade Rifle and Pistol Club in Ravensdale.

Carbon River Team No. 23 took first place in the Gold Division April 24-25 during a dressage rally at Donida Farm. There were 25 teams competing and it marked the local team’s first dressage rally.

The winning team consisted of Katie Hamor, stable manager, and four riders – Alexis Gaub on Gator, Kalin on Elmer, Emma McKeighen on Tucker and Matson on Trigger. Emme McKeighan had the best overall score in Training Level Dessage.

The Carbon River Pony Club practices its mounted lessons at The Back 40 Equestrian Center in Enumclaw. The trainer for the Carbon River team in these events is Teresa Leahy of The Back 40.
