Bonney Lake High pitcher Caitlin Colvin needed just a little help from her teammates.

The hard-throwing right-hander struck out 19 of the 21 batters she faced in a 2-0 win Friday over Sumner in South Puget Sound League 3A play.

It was Colvin’s second no-hitter this season as she improved to 4-0 overall. In her last three outings, she has fanned 49 batters in 21 innings.

“I usually utilize most of my pitches, but we used a lot of drop balls and curve balls,” Colvin said. “We were trying to keep the ball away from the hitters.”

In the final inning, Colvin threw just 12 pitches to strike out the final three Sumner batters.

Bonney Lake took a 1-0 lead in the first inning as Colvin brought home Alexis Miller. The Panthers added an insurance run in the fifth.

Bonney Lake defeated White River, 7-1, in league play April 7 as Taylor McCarthy picked up the win.

The Panthers are setting in first place in the standings at 5-0. They play at Peninsula today, Wednesday, then host Clover Park Friday before traveling to Auburn Mountainview Tuesday.
