The young Bonney Lake Panther boys dropped three South Puget Sound League hoop contests last week, but the team showed effort and hustle each time out.

Bonney Lake lost at Clover Park Saturday 53-42.

Chad Marquez led the Panther numbers with 12 and Riley Baltazar added 11.

At home Friday against Peninsula, the Panthers lost 56-30.

Bonney Lake moved the ball well and had good looks at the basket, but the ball was not falling in the hole.

“We’ve had some trouble getting our shots to drop,” coach John Hofstrand said. “The kids are working hard. They just have to get more varsity experience.”

The Panthers struggled offensively in the first three quarters, but broke out in the fourth with 18 points.

Braun hit 12 points and Baltazar 11.

Bonney traveled to Enumclaw Dec. 9 and lost 66-32.

Braun scored 12 to lead the way.

Bonney Lake hosted Auburn Mountainview Tuesday; scores were not available. The Panthers go on the road for a 7 p.m. game Friday at Lakes.
