E Z Kitty opened a huge lead on the last turn and coasted to a dominating 3 ½-length victory Sunday in the $65,000 Emerald Distaff for older fillies and mares at Emerald Downs.

Ridden by Anne Sanguinetti at 120 lbs, E Z Kitty ran 1 1/8 miles in 1:49.24 on a fast track and paid $9, $6.20 and $4.80. Jeff Metz is the trainer for owners Bruce and Cass Maller of Incline Village, NV.

The victory virtually clinches older filly and mare division honors for E Z Kitty, a picture of consistency this season, scoring two wins, a second and a third in the four-race series.

A 5-year-old Washington-bred mare by He’s Tops-Envision the Cat, E Z Kitty is 11-3-3 in 21 career starts including seven stakes wins. The $35,750 winner’s share increased her earnings to $236,315.

Wando Woman, a 7-to-1 long shot ridden by Amadeo Perez at 117 lbs, rallied from far back to finish second and paid $8 and $4.80. Whiskey Miner, the longest shot on the board at 52-to-1, finished third with under Debbie Hoonan and paid $8.20.

Royal Moses, Evelyn’s Dancer, Champagneandcaviar and Exclusive Diva completed the order of finish.

Canadian invader Evelyn’s Dancer, the 6-to-5 betting favorite, set the pace to midway on the last turn and gave way after six furlongs in 1:11.

Exclusive Diva, the 5-to-2 second choice, weakened after a half-mile and was eased through the stretch.

E Z Kitty, who stalked Evelyn’s Dancer early, forged to the lead midway on the last turn, drew out to a commanding eight-length lead in mid-stretch, and won under a Sanguinetti hand ride. E Z Kitty now has four stakes wins at Emerald Downs and three stakes win at Turf Paradise.

“I was surprised (to win by so many lengths),” Sanguinetti said. “I looked back a couple of times because there were such good horses in there and I just could not believe they weren’t coming.

“I kept thinking ‘They gotta be coming, they gotta be coming.’ I kept looking and they weren’t there and they weren’t there. And so finally I’m like they’re not coming.”

Originally owned and trained by H.R. Gibson, E Z Kitty has been sold privately twice, most recently to Nevada residents Bruce and Cass Maller, who purchased E Z Kitty the week before the opening if the Emerald Downs season.

E Z Kitty is 2-2-1 in five starts at the 2013 Emerald Downs meeting. She finished second in a $21,000 allowance race at 5 ½ furlongs on April 21, won the $50,000 Hastings Handicap at six furlongs on May 18, finished second in the Washington State Legislators Handicap at 6 ½ furlongs June 9, and was third in the Boeing Handicap at one mile on July 7.

E Z Kitty is eligible for the $50,000 Belle Roberts Stakes on Washington Cup Day, Sunday, Sept. 8
