The Enumclaw High boys water polo team split a pair of matches to maintain an even mark in league play, 4-4, and improve overall to 5-4.

The Hornets lost to Auburn Mountainview 11-8 Oct. 6 in a tightly fought game that the Hornets kept close through three quarters of play.

The lead changed hands several time through the first three quarters. Enumclaw took a 7-6 lead with 2 minutes remaining in the third period on a goal by team captain Travis Culp, but Mountainview tied the game seven with 47 seconds remaining and took the lead for good on a power play seconds later.

Mountainview went on to score three goals in the final quarter, while holding EHS to one.

Scoring for Enumclaw were Garrett Hall, three goals; Logan Ross and Bennon VanHoof, two each; and Culp with one.

Saturday, Stadium couldn’t field a complete team, so the Hornets took home their fourth league victory of the season, officially scored 5-0.

The shortage of players didn’t stop the action as the two teams worked out a scrimmage with players from both teams. In the scrimmage, the Enumclaw team beat the combined team of Enumclaw and Stadium players, 15-9.

The Enumclaw varsity plays Auburn in league action at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Auburn Pool.
