EHS football, rugby players sign college contracts

Student athletes will attend colleges in Washington state, California, and Utah.

A half-dozen Enumclaw High athletes were highlighted last week when they locked in their collegiate futures.

Family, friends, coaches and fellow students filled the EHS commons for a formal signing ceremony. Putting their names to letters-of-intent were the following:

Porter Rodarte will attend Snow College in Ephraim, Utah and play football for the Badgers. During his senior season at EHS, Rodarte, listed at 6 feet, 5 inches and 285 pounds, lined up at nose tackle for the Hornets.

Louis Chevalier and Fernando Reyes Villasenor will attend Butte College in California. The two-year institution participates in football as a member of the Golden Valley Conference.

As an Enumclaw senior Reyes Villasenor was named to the all-league first team as both an offensive and defensive lineman.

In his final season as a Hornet, Chevalier was honored as the NPSL 3A’s co-Offensive Player of the Year.

Marcell Lensegrav-Obot will attend Shasta Community College and play for the Knights. At the conclusion of the fall football season he was chosen as a first team, all-league defensive back. Shasta is in Redding, California.

Caleb Christian is headed to the College of the Siskiyous, found in Weed, California. Christian was signed after a solid senior season at linebacker. The Eagles participate in the Northern California Football Cnference.

Seamus Twohey will attend Western Washington University where he will join the rugby program.

The WWU team announced Twohey’s commitment on Facebook, noting that he is “a powerful and dominant ball carrier and tackler who will be a menace on both sides of the ball.”

Twohey has been a member of the Renton-based Liberty Rugby Club.

The Vikings have been a part of the Western club sport scene since the late 1950s. They compete as a member of the Northwest Collegiate Rugby Conference which includes institutions from throughout the Pacific Northwest.
