If the Enumclaw High Lady Hornets continue the marked improvement shown a season ago, fans of Beth Madill and her crew are in for a treat.

Madill took the reins two season ago, starting with a rookie campaign in which the Lady Hornets won just three games. In Madill’s second year, the EHS girls kicked things up four-fold, ending the season with a 12-14 record. Impressively, the team won four of six games after slipping into postseason play.

The program took a hit due to graduation, particularly the loss of leading scorer Katina Ferguson.

But a handful of players from last year’s varsity roster are back: Fallon Hall, Danielle Saltarelli, Nadine Huff, Hannah Calvert, Katie Holland, Calli Remitz and Jessica Snoen. Those final four all cracked the starting lineup a season ago.

Added to this year’s varsity roster are Julie Myers, Kim Aubert and transfer Sara George.

“We don’t have a ton of size,” Madill said, so the team will look to emphasize things from the guard slot and count on overall speed.

Heading into her third year at the helm, Madill believes she has a group that has bought into her vision for the program, both offensively and defensively.

“This is a group that really loves the game of basketball and that shows on the court,” she said.
