The past week proved tough for the Enumclaw High girls, who dropped a pair of South Puget Sound League 3A basketball games and saw their conference record slip to 1-3.

The Hornets started the week Jan. 11 with a tough, 43-40 road loss at Decatur. That was followed Friday by a 48-25 drubbing, again on the road, at the hands of Auburn Mountainview.

Friday’s loss was simply a matter of too little offense, as the Hornets finished with single-figure scoring in all four quarters. While EHS had trouble putting points on the board, the Lions built leads of 21-8 at halftime and 33-16 by the end of the third quarter.

No one had a big offensive night for the Hornets, as Katina Ferguson and Fallon Hall led the way with five points each.

The heartbreaker against the Gators had the Hornets leading most of the way and enjoying a four-point advantage after three quarters of play. The hosts tied the game by the end of regulation and secured the win with a 6-3 advantage during the overtime period.

Hannah Calvert and Jessica Snoen scored 11 points each to pace the Hornet offense.
