EHS SWIM: Hornets post district times

The Enumclaw High girls swim team used its depth to edge Peninsula 96-90 Sept. 22 to stay undefeated in league and tumble Lakes 107-76 Thursday in a nonleague contest.

The Hornets were at the Autumn Relays Friday, where they finished eighth. They were scheduled to battle Bonney Lake Tuesday – results can be found at www.courierherald.com – and will take on Sumner Thursday. Both meets start at 3:30 p.m. at the Sumner High pool.

Against Lakes, the Hornets continued to swim district-qualifying times.

Two of the Hornets’ 200-yard medley relays recorded district times with a one-two finish. The team of Lindsay Bowden, Bella Davenport, Erin Wessel and Erin Stucker finished in 2 minutes, 06.35 seconds, while Cassie Cook, Suzy Holston, Lori Lamm and Ali Ballard finished in 2:18.72.

The district-qualifying relay streak continued with the 200 freestyle relay of Carly Hinman, Stucker, Wessel and Davenport finishing in 1:58.15. Lakes won the event in 1:55.79. The 400 freestyle relay of Jamie Ritzdorf, Rachel Holston, Hinman and Bowden finished second in a district time of 4:26.41.

Bowden won the butterfly in 1:10.38 and finished second in the 100 backstroke in 1:08.13, both district times.

Davenport won the 100 breaststroke in 1:15.55, a district time. She was also second in the 50 freestyle in 28.41.

Rachel Holston finished second in the 200 freestyle in 2:21.94.

Hinman was second in the 200 individual medley in 2:47.28. Ritzdorf was right behind for third in 2:48.62.

Emily Bonthuis and Alicia McDougall finished second and third in diving.

Stucker finished second behind Bowden in the 100 butterfly with time of 1:15.05.

Wessell, Hinman and Ritzdorf finished 1-2-3 in the 100 freestyle with times of 1:05.42, 1:07.12 and 1:08.44 respectively.

Rachel Holston was second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 6:42.70.

Cook was third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:14.37.

The 400 freestyle relay of Taylor Hassenauer, Rachel Deonigi, Lamm and Ballard was third in 4:52.17.

Against Peninsula, the Hornets’ top finishes came with topped Bowden’s 1:17.75 victory in the butterfly and 1:17.99 win in the backstroke. The Hornets also won the 400 and 100 freestyle relays in 5:00.14 and 2:13.85, respectively.
