EHS TRACK: Underclassman turn in strong state performances

A trio of Enumclaw High underclassmen snared eighth-place honors during the state Class 3A track and field championships, staged Thursday through Saturday at Tacoma’s Mount Tahoma High School.

A trio of Enumclaw High underclassmen snared eighth-place honors during the state Class 3A track and field championships, staged Thursday through Saturday at Tacoma’s Mount Tahoma High School.Junior AnnaMarie Forza threw the javelin 116 feet, 7 inches to earn team points for EHS, while sophomore Hannah Calvert ran the 800 meters in 2:20.18 and freshman Maria Blad clocked a time of 16.18 in the 100-meter hurdles. Blad had also qualified for state in the 300-meter hurdles but did not place.Also qualifying and running at state from the girls team were the 4×400 crew of Chandler Weiman, Olivia Bannerot, Emily Eilertson and Calvert, along with alternate Angela Lindsey.The lone member of the boys squad to made a state trip was pole vaulter David Brazier, who did not place.
