Enumclaw student named All-American

Enumclaw High School senior Lindsay Bowden received Academic All-American honors this summer for the 2008-2009 school year from USA Water Polo.

Academic All-Americans must be current USA Water Polo members, have competed in a USA Water Polo national event and maintained a 3.6 grade-point average or better during the school year.

Bowden, a senior driver for Enumclaw’s water polo team, has competed at USA Water Polo’s Junior Olympics for the past three years as a member of the Tacoma-based Puget Sound Polo club team.

In a statement from USA Water Polo, Membership Services Coordinator Drew Willems praised all the Academic All-American award recipients. “Achieving success both in the classroom and in the pool takes a great deal of dedication and focus,” he said. “Maintaining a high GPA, while also committing yourself to a sport as demanding as water polo is an amazing feat and is recognized in the eyes of many in the water polo community.”

Bowden is a captain on both Enumclaw’s swim and water polo teams and is the daughter of Carolyn Bowden of Black Diamond and Gary Bowden of Maple Valley.
