Enumclaw’s Julia Carter nabs all-around title at Peak Gymnastics

The team as a whole placed fourth during the Jan. 13 meet.

Enumclaw High’s Julia Carter took all-around honors Jan. 13 when gymnasts from six schools gathered for an evening of competition.

The meet, Enumclaw’s only home contest of the season, was staged in the Peak Gymnastics facility.

In the end, top team honors went to North Thurston with 163.90 points. Bonney Lake was a close second and Rogers of Puyallup placed third. Enumclaw High was fourth, followed by Emerald Ridge and White River.

Carter took the all-around title by landing the top scores in both the floor exercise (9.6) and bars (8.9); she was second in the vault and 10th on the beam.

Placing 10th in the all-around for EHS was Mylee Bonthuis, who totaled 32.25. She placed eighth in both the vault (8.2) and floor exercise (9.05), was 12th on bars and 14th on beam.

Other Enumclaw High gymnasts factoring in the all-around were Ashley Dickerson, 13th; Aislinn Binder, 19th; Emma Clayton,21st; and Leila Scharf, 22nd.

White River High gymnast Kylee Trudgeon, who turns out with the EHS program, placed 15th in the all-around. She was seventh on the beam (8.9), 11th in the vault, 15th on bars and 20th in the floor exercise.

Next up for the Plateau gymnasts is a meet this Friday, Jan. 20. They will join athletes from Bonney Lake, Puyallup High, River Ridge, Sumner and Timberline and host North Thurston for a meet at Black Hills Gymnastics in Lacey.
