The Bonney Lake fastpitch squad maintained the zero in the South Puget Sound League 3A loss column as it played only one game in defense of its league-leading status and managed to win, claiming a five-inning, 12-0 win at Sumner.

The Panthers, who escalated their SPSL 3A record to 8-0 by blanking Sumner, seemed to get off to an uncharacteristic start, as it appeared pitcher Courtney Franz might be in a pitching duel with Sumner’s Taylor McCarthy.

Any mysteries regarding Bonney Lake’s dominance were cleared up, as the Panther bats cranked out 17 hits in the next two frames for three runs in the third stanza and nine runs in the fourth as BLHS sprinted out to a 12-0 advantage.

While Jacqui Courneya, Chloe Beal and Franz all went 2-for-3 from the dish with a double each, freshman outfielder Kayla Wells went 3-for-4 at the plate and Taylor Watkins went 2-for-2 with a steal.
