The girls’ basketball teams from Enumclaw and White River started the season with a combined 3-0 record, managing to play games during a week dominated by winter weather and canceled contests.

Playing both early and late in the week, the EHS crew had a pair of nonleague home games against larger Class 4A opponents. Enumclaw was more than up to the challenge, defeating Pasco High 53-35 Saturday afternoon after handling Rogers of Puyallup 62-43 on Nov. 28.

White River made the short trip to Auburn Riverside on Saturday, whipping the Ravens 56-19. It was the team’s season opener, since a planned Nov. 30 home game against Gig Harbor had been scrapped due to dicey road conditions.

Both teams opened South Puget Sound League 2A play this week. White River hosted the Washington Patriots last night (Tuesday) and will host Orting High at 7 p.m. Friday. Enumclaw traveled to Orting last night and hosts the Steilacoom Sentinels on Friday.
