Last chance for Hornets to post district times is around corner

The Enumclaw High Hornets head into the subdistrict swim tournament Friday and Saturday. This is the last opportunity for individuals and relays to qualify for the district meet set for Feb. 13 and 14.

The Enumclaw High Hornets head into the subdistrict swim tournament Friday and Saturday. This is the last opportunity for individuals and relays to qualify for the district meet set for Feb. 13 and 14.

Enumclaw already has a number of swimmers and relays that have qualified for the district meet.

The Hornets topped Bonney Lake Jan. 20, 112-71 and also competed against Clover Park Thursday in the league finale. Results of that contest were not available at press time.

Against Bonney Lake, the Hornets won the 200-yard medley relay with a district time of 1 minute, 57.65 seconds.

It was a Hornet sweep in the 200 individual medley with Josh Petersen leading the way with a district time of 2:22.13. Tim Holston was right behind with a district time of 2:25.06 and Travis Culp was third in 2:30.44.

Braden Dedrick was second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:27.87.

Greg Rufener won the 50 freestyle in a district time of 23.32. Pierce Beigh’s third-place finish of 24.55 was also a district time.

Garrett Hall won the diving.

The Hornets also swept the 100 butterfly with Josh Petersen taking first in 1:03.51. Shane Jackson cruised in second in 1:05.49 and Johnathan Stapf was third in 1:11.10.

Culp was second in the 100 freestyle in 59.58.

Zach Petersen won the 500 freestyle with a 5:51.25 time, on the razor’s edge of the 5:51.10 district-qualifying time. Teammate Gabe Sales was second in 6:02.47

The 200 freestyle B relay finished in 1:46.54, two seconds ahead of the Hornets A relay.

Rufener won the 100 backstroke in a distrtict time of 57.23 with Beigh right behind in a district time of 1:03.60.

The Hornets swept the 100 breaststroke with Jackson first in 1:12.46, Holston second in 1:16.73 and Ethan Ducken third n 1:18.25.

The Hornets 400 relay team also won with a district time.
