STRYKER PHD, SECOND: Trainer Margo Lloyd said she’s happy with how Stryker Phd came out of The Mile, and that the 4-year-old gelding would have his first gallop on Friday. Stryker Phd, a Washington-bred by Bertrando, is pointed for the $50,000 Muckleshoot Tribal Classic on Washington Cup Day, Sunday, September 8.

JEBRICA, FOURTH: Jebrica came out of The Mile great and is resting at Homestretch Farm in Edgewood, according to assistant trainer Kay Cooper. The 4-year-old gelding also is being pointed to the $50,000 Muckleshoot Tribal Classic, followed by his third appearance in the $100,000 B.C. Premiers Stakes (G3) on October 14 at Hastings Racecourse.

GLADDING, FIFTH: Trainer Vann Belvoir said that all is well with Gladding after his first Mile appearance. According to Belvoir, Gladding could make his next start at Fairplex Park in the $100,000 Ralph M. Hinds Pomona Handicap on Sunday, September 22.

WHY NOT BE PERFECT, SIXTH: Trainer Jeff Metz said Why Not Be Perfect got a little nicked up after The Mile, but otherwise came out of it OK. Metz said he nominated Why Not Be Perfect to the $50,000 Rolling Green at Golden Gate and the $35,000 Portland Mile at Portland Meadows, both races running on Monday, September 2, respectively. Metz said he’d take a look at both nomination sheets before making a decision.

UNTIL YOU, SEVENTH: Trainer David Martinez said Until You is “doing really well and was out on the track pulling hard today.” Until You is another Mile runner headed to the $50,000 Muckleshoot Tribal Classic on Washington Cup Day.

TRES BORRACHOS, EIGHTH: Owner George Hicker confirmed Sunday night that Tres Borrachos has retired from racing after his run in The Mile. An 8-year-old gelding by Ecton Park, Tres Borrachos retired with a 5-6-7 record in 48 starts and $1,030,973 in purse earnings.

WINNING MACHINE, 10TH: Owner/breeder Dr. Raymond Kwik said Winning Machine came out of the Mile very well, just a little tired. Kwik hopes to find an allowance sprint for Winning Machine next month at Emerald Downs.

MR. BOWLING, 11TH AND HOIST, 12TH: Owner Glen Todd said that both Mr. Bowling and Hoist came out of The Mile fine. According to Todd, both runners are heading up to Hastings to compete in the $50,000 S.W. Randall Plate Stakes on Sunday, September 8 followed by the $100,000 B.C. Premiers Stakes (G3).

DECATUR PRINCESS LOOKS TO UPSET CHU AND YOU

IN $50,000 BARBARA SHINPOCH STAKES

With their sweep of the 3-year-old filly division complete, trainer Tom Wenzel and jockey Rocco Bowen can set their sights on 2-year-old fillies and Decatur Princess in Sunday’s $50,000 Barbara Shinpoch Stakes at 6 ½ furlongs.

While nobody has compared Decatur Princess to Stopshoppingdebbie, Northwest Farms’ superior undefeated sophomore filly, she does enter the Shinpoch on the upswing. Owned by George Todaro, Decatur Princess finished an even fourth in her July 19debut at five furlongs, and then turned in an eye-catching late run to finish third to Chu and You and Strawberry Dawn in the August 4 Angie C Stakes at six furlongs.

“Last time, when the other speed filly (Tinkerbelle Tops) scratched, Juan (Gutierrez) got away with a pretty easy lead on Chu and You,” Wenzel said.

“We’ll hope to have a little more pace to run at this time. My horse definitely wants to be a closer.”

Wenzel (22-6-6-5) is the leading stakes trainer at the 2013 meet and Bowen is the No. 1 stakes jockey (10-6-0-1), and together they’ve combined for six stakes wins in two seasons (four with Stopshoppingdebbie, two with Makors Finale).

Undefeated in two starts with earnings of $32,024 for trainer Robbie Baze and owners/breeders Mike and Amy Feuerborn, has amassed Beyers of 64 and 65 while winning her two starts by a combined 10 ½ lengths. In the Angie C she set splits of :21.85, :44.89 and :57.05 en route to a final clocking of 1:09.88.

Charismata is another top contender.  A Curlin filly from the barn of top 2-year-old trainer Doris Harwood, Charismata scored by 2 ¾-lengths in her August 11 debut, in which she ran 5 ½ furlongs in 1:03.82 and earned a 61 Beyer.

• Wenzel has won this race twice in the last three years: Lady Golightly ($42.40) broke her maiden by 3 ½ lengths in 2010 when the race was still at one mile, and Blueberry Smoothie ($2.60) won by 5 ½ lengths last year when the race was shortened to 6 ½ furlongs.

Beginning immediately, fans and owners can watch horses train at Emerald Downs via the track’s new Webcam, which broadcasts live action on the track 24 hours a day. The camera is affixed to the 6th floor, just north of track announcer Robert Geller’s booth.

“The Washington HBPA is very happy to have worked with our principal partner in Washington racing, Emerald Downs, to add this amenity for all,” said Washington HBPA President Ron Maus. “It allows owners who cannot be present at the track to work with their trainer, via phone, to see their horse “come down the lane” and feel a bit more into the action when they cannot be there.
