Four gymnasts from the Sumner School District – a trio of Sumner Spartans and one Bonney Lake Panther – will represent their schools at this weekend’s state Class 3A/2A gymnastics meet.

Action runs Friday and Saturday in the exhibition hall at the Tacoma Dome.

Sumner’s Kimi Nakayama qualified for state in all four events – the vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise. Fellow Spartan Sierra Tinsley qualified in vault, bars and beam, while Aja Ruswick earned a state berth in the bars, beam and floor exercise.

Bonney Lake’s Mallory Zimbelman earned her Tacoma Dome trip by qualifying on the balance beam.

The state-bound quartet advanced through a subdistrict meet and last weekend’s district competition to advance to the state meet.
