After the Bonney Lake High wrestling squad fell 52-18 to defending 3A state title holder Enumclaw Jan. 21, making its South Puget Sound League 3A dual match record 3-3, it moved on to participate in the Tahoma Mat Classic.

Panther coach Anthony Clarke said he would have liked to see his group do better than a seventh-place finish, with 101 points, but confessed his grapplers are on track toward realizing the goal they set for themselves when the season commenced. The team had hoped to finish 5-3 in league competition.

Bonney Lake hosts Franklin Pierce at 7 tonight, Wednesday, and then travels to Peninsula for a 7 p.m. tussle Thursday.

Boasting an unblemished 28-0 personal record, Panther senior standout Addison Tracy was one of the highlights in BLHS’ skirmish with Enumclaw. He kept the Hornets’ 145-pounder Jacob Jokela at bay to manage a convincing decision.

Tracy also earned the champion’s belt in his 145-pound weight division of the Tahoma Mat Classic by first pinning a trio of challengers from Puyallup, Thomas Jefferson and Graham- Kapowsin, then winning an 8-5 decision over home crowd favorite John Buban of Tahoma.

Other placers representing Bonney Lake were Nick Bendon at 135 pounds, Belgian import Sam Mebarki, 189 and Jared Dorsey (215), all of whom claimed third-place honors.
