The Panthers scored their lone run in the bottom of the second. Bonney Lake had just two hits off Lion pitcher Cody Hebner, who struck out eight Panthers with no walks.

Ryan Hendrix, who pitched five innings, gave up three hits, fanned four and walked three.

Both teams had three errors.

Chad Marquez and Dylan Brown each drove in a run as Bonney Lake posted a 3-0 shutout of Enumclaw March 23 in a rain-shortened contest.

In the SPSL 3A opener for both schools, Brown (1-0) tossed a one-hitter and fanned nine Hornet batters.

Bonney Lake scored once in the second and twice in the fifth.

The Panthers host Franklin Pierce at 4 p.m. today, Wednesday, and host Hudson’s Bay at noon Friday in nonleague action. They return to league play Tuesday at White River.
