Bonney Lake resident Jacob Bohl and Sumner resident Jonah Phillips were two of the 38 players recently named to the Washington State Youth Soccer 2009 Olympic Development Team for boys born in 1996.

The Olympic Development Program is run in partnership with the Seattle Sounders FC and is the program that feeds the most skilled players in the state into the United States national team program. This is the first year players born in 1996 were eligible to tryout for the ODP teams. Bohl and Phillips were selected for the team following a rigorous evaluation and tryout process that began in 2008 and included hundreds of players. They will now have the opportunity to train and compete with the ODP teams from other states around the country. Both boys are playing for the Sumner Soccer Club.

Phillips plays for the Franklin Pierce Fury where he just concluded his U13 year. Bohl plays for the Washington Premier FC U12 team and is currently participating in the 2009 state tournament.
