The Spartan boys finished 11th, while the girls took 12th. Camas won the boys’ title and Kelso captured the girls’ team crown.

Seth Rodriguez finished second in the javelin with a throw of 175 feet, 10 inches, while Kevin Johnson took third in the pole vault at 12-6.

Zach Barry was eighth in the 1,600-meter run at 4 minutes, 41.75 seconds and was the highest-placing Spartan runner at the meet.

In the girls’ division, the 4×400 relay team of Carson Blankenship, Tessa Hansen, Lauren Bulzomi and Ashlee Sincraugh took second with a time of 4:16.16.

Sincraugh also finished seventh in the 400 meters with a time of 1:03.96 and Stefani Castile was eighth in the 1,600 at 5:44.49.

In their first South Puget Sound League 3A meet of the season, the Sumner girls had some bright spots in the three-team meet Thursday at Peninsula High School.

Peninsula defeated Sumner, 91-57, but the Spartans beat Auburn Mountainview, 81-64.

Castile won both the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs. She finished with a time of 5:55 in the 1,600 and 12:47.08 in the 3,200. She finished third in the 800 at 2:38.0.

Gabby DeGoede, a freshman runner, finished second in the 1,600 at 6:01.38 and 3,200, 12:54.97.

In the hurdle events, Kaylee Holloway and Karly Dedmon stood out. Holloway took first in the 300 at 49.36, while Dedmon was third. Holloway was second in the 100 and Dedmon was again third.

Sincraugh won the 400 in 1:02.21 and Bulzomi was third.

Singcraugh and Bulzomi, along with Blankenship and Hansen, took first in the 4×400 relay with a winning time of 4:15.32, their season best.

In the field event, Kayla Roberts was first in the shot put at 29-8.5 and Veronica Carnahan finished third.

Jessica Vandergiessen and Taylor Hobert tied for second in the high jump at 4-8, while Vandergiessen finished second in the triple.

The Spartans’ boys lost to host Peninsula 99-47 and to Mountainview 85-56.

Ryan Halvorsen won the 100 in 11:22 and Conner Mickelson was second in the 400. Barry took second in the 1,600.

Sumner’s 4×100 relay team of Andre Sloan, Jordan Hanni, David Roberts and Halvorsen took first with a time of 47.76.

In the field events, Rodiquez was first in the javelin with a throw of 165-7, while Alex Griffin was second in the discus.

Grant Stevens and Michael Smith were 1-2 in the pole vault at 11-6 and 9-6, respectively.
