Schreiner leads Enumclaw track again with three dominant victories

Competing in Purdy against the host Peninsula High Seahawks, the EHS girls defeated Bonney Lake 88-68 but fell to Peninsula 93-57. The EHS boys whipped Bonney Lake 82-59 but lost 111-34 to the talented Seahawks.

The Enumclaw girls had a three-time winner in Stephanie Schreiner. She was tops in the triple jump with an effort of 33 feet, 5 inches, won the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.66 seconds and took the 800 meters with a clocking of 2:33.41.

Other first-place finishers for the EHS girls were Carissa Gwerder, who won the 1,600 meters in 5:35.50; AnnaMarie Forza, who won the javelin with a throw of 113-8; and Hailey Olafson, pole vault, 8-0. EHS also took first in the 800-meter relay, as the team of Angela Lindsey, Jillian Koontz, Alysa Bailey and Forza combined for a time of 1:52.24.

Taking second-place honors for the EHS girls were Emily Eilertson in the 800 meters and Koontz in the pole vault.

The Enumclaw High boys had first-place finishes from Darek Goch, 100 meters, 11.78; Joe Cerne, javelin, 178-11; and David Brazier, pole vault, 13-0. Also first across the line was the EHS 400-meter relay team of Goch, Robby Johnson, Derek Forza and Zack Mason with a time of 45.38.

Placing second for EHS were Jordan Grant, discus, 136-9; Logan Ross, pole vault, 11-5; and the 1,600-meter relay team of Johnson, Larry Calvert, Branden Russell and Braden Timpe, 3:31.87.
