SHS SOCCER: All roses, no thorns for the Spartan kickers

After demolishing Clover Park 10-0 earlier in the week the Spartan booters visited Washington High's stadium Thursday and blanked the Patriots 12-0 in South Puget Sound League 2A action to remain undefeated in league play.

Things just keep coming up roses for the 4-0 Sumner High girls soccer squad.

After demolishing Clover Park 10-0 earlier in the week the Spartan booters visited Washington High’s stadium Thursday and blanked the Patriots 12-0 in South Puget Sound League 2A action to remain undefeated in league play.

Sumner was nearly unstoppable as the Patriots endured a barrage of 25 shots on goal during the course of the encounter, but in addition to that, SHS featured the stingy play of freshmen netminders Abby Smith and Jamie Lang, who accounted for their third shutout of the campaign.

Sumner was looking to keep its league mark untarnished this week as it faced Fife, also undefeated, Tuesday night; results for that one arrived too late to report here.

Sumner will travel to Steilacoom Thursday evening and host Franklin Pierce Tuesday.
