SHS SOCCER: Sumner playoffs Saturday

After sailing to a 13-1 regular season mark in the South Puget Sound League 2A, the Sumner High girls soccer squad moves on to postseason.

The Spartans closed out the regular campaign with a tandem of shutouts, a 5-0 Oct. 26 victory at Steilacoom and a 4-0 decision over Franklin Pierce Thursday.

Franklin Pierce High’s stadium will be the venue for Sumner’s playoff at 3 p.m. Saturday with the winner of the Evergreen vs. Port Angeles matchup tonight, Wednesday.

Kaylie Rozell drew first blood for SHS against Steilacoom when she took assists from Leah Dedominces and Makinzie Endicott for two goals. Gabby Degoede fired in an unassisted goal and Endicott, on an assist from Breanna Allsop, scored. Megan Fenton hammered the last goal, burying an unassisted blast.

Dedominces broke the scoring ice against Franklin Pierce legging an unassisted drive into the Cardinals’ goal. Rozell and Fenton contributed second half goals.
