A young and ambitious Sumner volleyball squad split in sub-district action at Washington High School last Saturday and will be moving on to district play this weekend again at Washington High, where its initial match up in the West Central District III tourney will come against the Patriots of WHS commencing 5 p.m. this Friday evening.

The SHS v-ballers got off on the right foot last Saturday morning, stonewalling a rambunctious Evergreen High group out of the Seamount League in three straight sets 25-7, 25-8, 25-13.

The victory moved the Spartan girls along on the right side or winner’s side of the bracket and they next encountered Sequim. The hungry Wolves of Sequim got the better of  the purple and gold spikers, handing them a disheartening match loss in consecutive sets 25-10, 25-16, 25-14.
