A young Sumner High wrestling squad continued its reign of terror on the rest of the South Puget Sound League 2A Thursday as it trimmed the Fife Trojans 41-33 to elevate its dual match league record to 3-0.

The Spartans were dominant in the lighter weights as 103-pound freshman Travis Filleau continued his untarnished string of league victories, crushing his challenger with an 8-0 decision. Also, 119-pounder Cade Little pinned his Fife foe toward the end of the third round, while Anthony Martin, 112, and Markus Forhan, 125, both won by forfeit.

Fife managed a mid-match uprising though, winning at 130, 135 and 140 pounds, after which Spartan seniors Tyler Hidalgo and Matthew Wilson got SHS back on track with a tandem of lopsided decisions. Hidalgo won his bout with a 13-5 judgement and Wilson scored a 10-4 triumph.

In the final four weight classes, Sumner split. The purple and gold lost at 171 pounds, Spartan grappler Nick Ehrenheim, 189, pinned his man 50 seconds into the third round, Sean Bowles won by forfeit at 215 pounds and Fife registered a conquest in the heavyweight battle.

After maintaining its untarnished league record, Sumner traveled north Saturday to participate in the Edmonds-Woodway Invitational, getting great representation from third-place finishers Hidalgo, Wilson, Zach Wooding and Forhan. Filleau took fifth at 103 pounds.
