Enumclaw High’s wrestling team won its 30th straight league match Wednesday (Jan. 20) night with a 55-14 South Puget Sound League win over Bonney Lake.

The victory bumped the Hornets to 6-0 in league with two matches remaining in the regular season. The Panthers fall to 3-4.

Bonney Lake took a quick four-point lead with Josh Peart’s 14-2 decision at 145 pounds, but EHS’s Josh Musick put the Hornets up with a first-round pin at 152. Kario Wallin boosted EHS’s lead with a technical fall and the Panthers forfeited at 171 pounds.

D.J. Qualls scored a major decision at 189 to keep EHS on a role. The Hornets’ Steven Knapp added a 57-second pin at 215 to make it 27-4. Bonney Lake’s Jared Dorsey scored a 1-0 decision over Jeff Wiltse to give the Panthers’ three more points.

Enumclaw’s Jared Paul picked up a major decision at 103. Bonney Lake answered with a major decision at 112 before Enumclaw got four straight pins from Cole Snider, Hunter File, Lucas Somera and Andrew Fox.

The Panthers finished up the night’s scoring, with Nick Bendon topping Kyle Young with a 7-4 decision at 140 pounds.

WHITE RIVER 50, LAKES 28

White River High’s wrestling team improved its South Puget Sound League record to 5-2 with a 50-28 victory over Lakes Wednesday (Jan. 20).

The Hornets collected pins from Carl Klein, 103, Jacob Short, 189, Chase Myers, 215, and Dave Meagher at 285. The Hornets also got a pair of major decisions from Alec Williams at 140 and Austin Bethel at 160. Lakes handed the Hornets 18 points with three forfeits.
