Songandabullet took command into the stretch and drew clear for a three-length victory Friday in the $12,700 Coca-Cola Purse for 3-year-olds and up at Emerald Downs.

Ridden by David G. Lopez, Songandabullet ran one mile in 135.70 on a fast track and paid $12.20, $5.20 and $3.80. Frank Lucarelli is the trainer for owners Ron and Nina Hagen of Enumclaw.

For Lucarelli, it was the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat all wrapped into one race. He also saddled Posse Power, the 4-to-5 betting favorite, but the 7-year-old gelding was out of the race almost before it began, stumbling badly at the break to unseat jockey Isaias Enriquez.

Neither Posse Power nor Enriquez were injured in the mishap*in fact, Posse Power continued running and crossed the wire first, but horses are disqualified automatically if racing without a rider.

“It’s too bad because I really thought we had a chance to finish first and second,” Lucarelli said. “But that’s the way it goes.”

Everything is going right for Songandabullet. The 4-year-old gelding became the seventh horse with three wins at the meet, and has compiled a 3-1-0 record in four starts overall. A Kentucky-bred by Songandaprayer, Songandabullet is 4-3-0 in 16 lifetime starts with earnings of $35,646.

Ugottabcatty, ridden by Leslie Mawing, edged Uzziah for the place and paid $4.60 and $3.60. Uzziah, ridden by Eliska Kubinova, finished third and paid $3.40.

Secret Harbor, the early leader, finished fourth, followed by Southern Solution.
