Spartan swimmers undefeated through eight meets

The Spartans beat Clover Park Oct. 9 107-63 and Eatonville Oct. 10, 120-49. In both meets Spartan swimmers continued to drop time.

With 8 meets in the books, the SHS girls swim and dive team are still undefeated.

Madison Munger made yet another State qualifying cut in the 100 backstroke swimming to a 1.04.41.  During the Eatonville meet, our the 400 free relay of Kallan Gustafson, Ashley Huyhn, Alicia Ditty and Madison Munger qualified for State in a 3.58.73.

Alicia Ditty improved her 100 free time against Clover Park and Kristin Easterly continued to improve her 100 breaststroke time and has dropped over a second in the last two meets. Marissa Filipowicz has dropped 11.40 seconds in the 100 backstroke, 5.38 seconds in the 100 freestyle and .52 seconds in the 50 free.  Kallan Gustafson dropped .47 seconds in the 100 free and will now start to focus more on the 200 and 500 freestyle.  Ashley Huynh  dropped 5 seconds in the 100 fly and has already qualified for State in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke.

Ashleigh Johnson dropped 1.27 seconds in the 100 freestyle and Illiana Kaiser dropped 1.07 seconds in the 100 backstroke, Katherine Korbuszewski dropped 12.58 seconds in her 200 free which is a significant drop!!  Bailey-Jo Lee is working on her 50 free and dropped 1.82 seconds and my new comers swimming in their first meets… Maria (Mieka) and Cheliva (Angel) Magbanua swam good races to establish their times in the 50-100 free.  Madison Munger dropped 1.43 seconds in the 100 backstroke.

Taylor Riley, McKenna Roberts and Madison Thibodeau have had a tougher two meets not dropping times in their swims; however Coach Dana Powers believes they are on the verge of making significant drops.
