Spartans, Lions stay undefeated | Sumner baseball

Through games of last week, the Sumner Spartans baseball team headed the South Puget Sound League 3A division with a 4-0 record. Tied for second place with the Lions are the Bonney Lake Panthers with its own undefeated record of 3-0.

League play began March 27 for Sumner with a doubleheader against Lakes.

The Spartans won both games, 9-1 and 10-0.

Taking a break from league games March 28, Sumner faced Emerald Ridge.

The Spartans won 7-1.

Sumner’s overall record is 8-1.The Spartans’ only loss was the first game of the season to Fife.

League play resumed April 2 when the Spartans hosted Auburn Riverside. Sumner won 1-0.

Josiah Fidecaro scored the only run of the game.

The second game of the two game series against the Ravens was played Friday in Auburn. The Spartans won 8-4.

The first of two games against Auburn Mountainview begins today at 4 p.m. at Sumner.

The second game will be played at Auburn Mountainview on Friday.
