Enumclaw High’s Plese named to all-state team

Enumclaw High goalkeeper Caitlin Plese received the top honor available to a Washington prep soccer player when she was named to the Class 3A all-state team.

The squad was voted upon by coaches from throughout the state.

Also honored by coaches was White River midfielder Cassidy France, named to the all-state second team.

Plese was joined on the first team local rivals Savannah Moorehouse, a midfielder, and Brianna Jones, a defender, both from Bonney Lake High.

Dickson captures first for Yellow Jackets wrestling

The Enumclaw Yellow Jackets wrestling team finished its season Saturday with the league tournament at Spanaway.

Nineteen teams competed and wrestlers had earned their berth by competing in both subdistrict and district tournaments.

Highlighting the Yellow Jackets’ day was Jacob Dickson, who captured first place at 69 pounds in the 8-and-younger division. He advanced to the finals where he defeated White River’s Gabe Hawthorne.

The Yellow Jackets’ Tyson Russell took fourth place at 45 pounds in the 8-and-younger division. In the 9-and-older division Jacob Treece took second place at 72 pounds.

Also competing for the Yellow Jackets at league were Nate Belcourt and Cameron McKee.

Peak Gymnastics Level 4s win season’s first trophy

Peak Gymnastics found success during the team’s first meet of the spring season Jan. 16 in Bainbridge Island.

Level 4s walked away with a first-place trophy and more than half the girls qualified for sectionals. Elise Dunning scored her best all-around score with a 35.60.

Level 9 Molly Mattheis qualified for state in her first meet of the season.
