The Bonney Lake High girls finished 11th among 34 teams at the 29th annual Tacoma Invitational Saturday at Lincoln Bowl.

Top finishers for the Panther girls were Veronica Stinnett, who placed third in the 1,600-meter run at 5 minutes, 20.58 seconds and Theresa Edwards, who finished fourth in the 3,200 at 11:54.52.

Sandra Meyer was sixth in the 300 hurdles at 51.01 and the 4×400 relay team of Edwards, Stinnett, Meyer and Haylie Cannon took fifth at 4:17.70.

In the field events, Natosha Lyonais was sixth in the shot put with a throw of 34 feet, 4 inches, while Leslie Cannon was seventh in triple jump at 31-7 inches.

The Panther boys finished 23rd among 36 teams.

Brandon Baumchen was fifth inthe 1,600 at 4:30.98 and the 4×400 relay team of Eric Schroeder, Ben Hansen, Tevante Christian and Baumchen took seventh with a time of 3:33.52.

Bobby Nix was seventh in the shot put at 46-4.

Two first-place finishes, along with placing among the top three in seven other events, gave Bonney Lake enough points to capture third place at the 14-team Bill Harris Invitational April 7 at Federal Way High School.

The Panthers finished with 87.5 points. Federal Way won the meet with 155 and Bellevue Christian was second with 108.5.

Edwards and Stinnett each placed first in two of the long-distance races. Edwards won the 1,600-meter run in 5:28.54 and Stinnett won the 3,200 run in 11:53.17.

The Panthers placed third or better in all three relay races.

In the 400-meter relay, host Federal Way edged out the Panthers for first by a fraction of a second.

Leslie and Haylie Cannon, Taylor Howick and Shelby Rowland took second with a time of 52.91 seconds. The Eagles finished with a time of 52.88.

Cannon, Howick, Kimber Kober and Emma Martin were third in the 800-meter relay at 1:54.14.

Edwards, Rowland, Stinnett and Meyer finished third in the 1,600-meter relay in 4:17.94.

After placing ninth in the 100, Howick bounced back to finished third in the 200 at 28.21.

In the hurdles, Kober was third in the 100 at 17.11 and Meyer took third in the 300 at 49.39.

In the field events, the Panthers performed well. Tiara Kimer, 37 feet, and Lyonais, 31-6, finished second and fourth, respectively, in the shot put.

Cannon was second in the triple jump at 32-9.5, while Meyer took fourth in the long jump at 14-3.

In the boys division, Bonney Lake finished seventh with 44.5 points behind first-place Federal Way.

The Panthers’ highlight was a second-place finish in the 1,600 relay. Federal Way won with a time of 3:29.94 with Bonney Lake’s team of Baumchen, Schroeder, Christian and Brandon Barnett was close behind at 3:30.09.

Cory Richardson finished fourth in the 3,200 meters at 10:31.02, while the 400-meter relay team of Barnett, Schroeder, Hunter Colegrove and Taylor Brown was fifth at 44.78.

In the field events, Josh Zahnow was fourth in the high jump at 5-8 and Sean Smith was fourth in the pole vault at 10-0.
