Sumner heads into state finals

The Sumner High swim team carries two relays and seven individuals into Saturday's finals

The Sumner High boys swim and dive team charges into Saturday afternoon’s finals at the 2A state meet with two relays and seven individuals.

Competition begins at 2:30 p.m. at Federal Way’s King County Aquatic Center.

The Spartans’ 200-yard freestyle relay, finished third, and the 400 freestyle relay was fifth in Friday’s preliminary round.

Individually, Trent Powers finished second in the 50 freestyle and fifth in the 100 freestyle to advance.

Connor Powers-Hubbard was third in the 100 breaststroke and the 200 freestyle.

Zane Gustafson finished eighth in the 100 breaststroke and seventh in the 200 indiviual medley to move into the finals.

Diver Evan Quaschnick enters Saturday’s dive finals in the No. 3 spot.
