Sumner soccer: SHS falls to top seed

The Sumner High boys’ soccer season came to an end with a 7-0 loss to Greater St. Helens League No. 1 seed Camas Saturday in a winner-to-state, lose-out game in Vancouver, Wash.

The Spartans finished the season 7-7-4 overall.

Sumner dropped a 3-2 shootout loss May 13 in first-round action of the Seamount/South Puget Sound League 3A subdistrict playoffs in Burien.

In the loss, Mike Ophan scored off a Martin Schmuck assist and the other Spartan score came off an Evergreen player.
