The following are results from Thursday’s sporting events involving local teams.
Track: In the first day of the South Puget Sound League/Western Cascade Conference subdistrict meet, area athletes advanced to next weeks’ West Central District meet.
The top seven in each event advance.
White River’s Marcus Dickson won the 1,600 meter run. He, along with Brandon Baumchen of Bonney Lake, fourth, and Larry Calvert of Enumclaw, fifth, advanced.
In the 3,200-meter girls event, Bonney Lake’s Theresa Edwards and White River’s Ashley Llapitan advanced. Edwards finished second and Llapitan was sixth.
In the field events, Sumner’s Kevin Johnson and Grant Stevens, along with Austin Shirey of White River and David Brazier and Clifford Newman of Enumclaw, advanced to district in the pole vault. Johnson, Stevens and Shirey tied for third, while Brazier and Newman tied for sixth.
Sumner’s Alex Griffith and White River’s Grant Peckham advanced in the discus. Griffith was third and Peckham fifth.
Jessica Vandergiessen, fourth, and Courtney Perkins, sixth, of Sumner advance in the girls’ high jump.
In the girls’ long jump, Enumclaw’s Stephanie Schreiner took first, while Bonney Lake’s Taylor Howick was third and White River’s Carley McCutchen took fifth.
In the girls’ shot put, Bonney Lake’s Tai Killmer placed first, Adara Winder was fourth and Natosha Lyonais, seventh; Sumner’s Kayla Roberts was sixth.
Killmer and Enumclaw’s AnnaMarie Forza advanced in the javelin, placing sixth and seventh, respectively.
Enumclaw High baseball: The Hornets defeated North Thursday 9-7 at Heritage Fields on the South Hill. They next play at 12:15 p.m. Saturday at Foss High School against Mount Rainier, continuing West Central District play.
White River soccer: The White River crew fell 2-1 in overtime to Prairie High at Harry Lang Stadium in Lakewood. The Hornets’ Jarrod Adams scored early and the White River defense held most of the way. Prairie scored late in the game, forcing overtime, then secured the victory with a goal just three minutes into the OT period.
