White River High opened the 2011 prep soccer season by winning two of its first three games.

Friday saw the Hornets travel to Lakewood and ring up a 3-1 triumph over Clover Park. Zac Morris scored twice and Zach Welch added a goal before Clover Park cracked the scoreboard.

The Hornets’ other win came in the March 15 season opener, a 1-0 blanking of Sumner. Welch had an unassisted, first-half goal and Trent Rohm earned the shutout in goal.

Sandwiched between the victories was a 4-0, home-field loss Thursday to Enumclaw. The visitors led just 1-0 at halftime but exploded for three goals in the second half to run away with the nonleague win.
