The Sumner High boys played an athletic Clover Park basketball team Dec. 16 at home as the Spartans lost 66-39.

On a very late night recently in downtown Seattle, I saw a scene unfolding that looked like big trouble. Farther down the sidewalk from me, two shadowy figures stood on a street corner, shouting back and forth, nose to nose. As I came closer, the argument grew louder and more heated. I started to consider an alternate route, because while the dispute seemed to be worsening, there was no one else stirring, not even a cop.

• A 22-year-old man was arrested for driving under the influence after running a stop light at the intersection of 214th Avenue East and SR 410 at 12:18 a.m. Dec. 14. When the officer activated his emergency lights the driver increased his speed before finally pulling over. When the officer approached, the driver became argumentative and denied any violation. The officer could see the man was intoxicated. The man refused a field sobriety test. He was arrested and booked into the Buckley jail.
The change of government issue will be discussed by the Bonney Lake City Council in January, and a resolution will likely be considered to either support or oppose the proposition.
