Base Camp reports successful three-day showing at the fair

The city of Enumclaw’s 16th annual juried art exhibit, Base Camp, closed July 18 after a successful three-day run during Enumclaw’s King County Fair. Nearly 2,500 visitors viewed artwork by artists from the region. Viewers made donations and cast votes for the popular “People’s Choice Award.” Woodinville artist Linda Baker was the public-selected winner for her photograph entitled “Lilly.” Baker will receive $115, the total of donations made by exhibit visitors.

The exhibition included the following artists: Mary McInnis, Michael M. Dilbeck, Jim F. Clagg, Lauri Hillberg, Lea Bishop, Chuck Fitzgerald, Lorrie Maras, Duane Simshauser, Katie Carnell, Diana Whitney, Karen Richter, Eric Richter, Lydia Sutton, John D. Rogers, Sallie Zydek, Ross Brown, Sharman Owings, Kristina Vandersnick, Wendy Ray, Janet Berthon, Bruce D. Holmes, Kent A. Chapman, Lori Twiggs, Hsing Liu, Clarice M. Ray, John Wilmot, Randy Cook, Steve LePenske, Judi LePenske, Jon Funfar and Jeff Savage.

This year’s Puget Sound Energy First Place Purchase Award was presented to Ross Brown for his bronze sculpture “Corporatotic Tumi No. 4.” The piece will be added to the city of Enumclaw’s public art collection. The second-place award was presented to artist Baker for her photograph”

The third-place award was presented to painter Karen Richter of Seattle for her oil on canvas painting “Breakfast Whites.” Additional awards were funded and presented by Arts Alive! The Iris McLaughlin Award went to Jim F. Clagg for his painting “A View of Tacoma.” Arts Alive! also funded and presented the Local Artist Award to Sharman Owings for her oil on canvas painting “All About Me.” Awards totaled $3,115.
