A cannonball against domestic violence | SLIDESHOW

Dozens of people jumped into the chilly waters of Lake Tapps Oct. 28 to support Exodus Housing as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

This year’s Plunge Against Domestic Housing took place Oct. 28 at Allan Yorke Park in Bonney Lake.

The event is a fundraiser for Exodus Housing in Sumner, which helps place victims of domestic violence in new homes. Presently they are working with 41 local families.

Exodus Executive Joe O’Neil told jumpers that the event was designed to give people a chance to experience the “shock and awe” of domestic violence.

“They never know when the bad stuff will happen,” O’Neil said of families trapped in domestic violence situations. “Everyone here will know just before they jump that the bad stuff will happen.”

The event raised approximately $7,500.
