Buckley Police Blotter: Inebriated man hands officer his debit card, tells him PIN

DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED: At 10:04 p.m. April 10, Buckley officer stopped a vehicle on 112th Street for an apparent failure to transfer the vehicle title. The driver stated she purchased the car and did not have paperwork with her. She provided a state identification card, and it was determined she was driving while license suspended in the third degree. She was arrested, cited and released.

AGENCY ASSIST: Buckley Police assisted Washington State Patrol with an April 11 collision on state Route 162. The officer stood by until emergency medical services and patrollers arrived to take over. An 18-year-old driver was cleared of injuries and left the scene after state patrol concluded its investigation.

TEXTING: At 7:33 p.m. April 12 on Main Street, an officer stopped a driver because she appeared to be texting on her phone while operating her car. The officer discovered the 27-year-old had a suspended driver’s license for an unpaid ticket. She was issued a criminal citation and given a court date.

NOT AN ATM: An officer spotted a vehicle parked next to Johns Road and, suspicious, contacted the driver. The driver smelled of alcohol on his breath. His keys were in the ignition, and he handed the officer his debit card before giving his PIN. The officer conducted some voluntary tests and the man was placed under arrest for having physical control of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

BURGLARS ARE TOOLS: On April 14, An officer was dispatched to an A Street residence for a burglary report. The listed victim reported subjects unknown forced entry to his garage door and stole power tools stored inside. A case report, theft inventory sheet, and written statement were collected and forwarded to investigations for follow-up.

VEHICULAR ASSAULT: A 51-year-old Bonney Lake driver was taken into custody for vehicular assault after he hit a car containing two young men from Bonney Lake and Buckley. Officers responded to the collision at Ryan Road 8:58 p.m. April 16. All parties were taken to the hospital for treatment. A blood draw was taken from the 51-year-old man and sent to the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab for analysis. The case will be forwarded to the Department of Licensing and the County Prosecutor pending lab results.
