The city of Sumner 2013 to 2014 budget is currently available for online viewing. Many questions about the prioritization of projects can be answered by reading the two year budget. The purpose of the budget is to ensure city money is allocated properly to meet program goals and objectives.

Communications Director Carmen Palmer said the online budget was developed with the intent to provide clear information for curious citizens, but it is also in-depth enough to act as a guide for administrators and city council.

“People frequently ask us why we do one project over another or wonder what we’re spending our time (on their dime) doing,” Palmer said. “The budget really gives the complete picture of what’s happening in these two years … In addition to the numbers, which may be hard to understand, we’ve inserted a lot of cover pages with quick snapshots that hopefully give people easy-to-understand information about what their money is doing these next two years and what will be the result.”

By establishing an online budget, the city has made it easy for Sumner residents to be informed about current projects and goals. To view the budget online, please visit the city of Sumner website at www.ci.sumner.wa.us/Government/Budget.htm
