Enumclaw Santa Patrol rolls Dec. 14-17

Enumclaw firefighters will conduct their annual Santa Run through the streets of Enumclaw next week.

Enumclaw firefighters will conduct their annual Santa Run through the streets of Enumclaw next week.

Santa Claus will ride around town atop a fire engine between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Dec. 14 through Dec. 17. Members of the local fire department will accompany Santa, handing out candy canes; additionally, they will collect nonperishable food for those in need and new toys for kids who might otherwise go without.

The food donations will go to local food banks and, according to Chief Randy Fehr, the department is “thankful for the generous support we receive from the community. Donated toys will become part of the Toys for Tot and Teens program sponsored by Fugate Ford.

“A similar local toy drive in the area is unfortunately not taking place this year,” said Bert Tyler, Fugate sales manager, “so this year’s toy drive is more important than ever to fill the gap.”

This year, citizens will be able to track Santa’s location by following the fire department on Facebook and accessing the “Santa tracker.”

Firefighters and Santa will make every attempt to hit every street listed on the map but can sometimes be limited by accessibility and emergency calls.

If the event is hindered by an emergency or bad weather, Santa and the department members will make up any streets missed the evening of Sunday, Dec. 18.

Santa also will make an appearance at Tracy’s Produce from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday, Dec. 10 for all those who do not live within the Enumclaw city limits.

The event is made possible through contributions from Fugate Ford, The Enumclaw Volunteer Firefighter Association, Enumclaw Firefighters Union IAFF L3931 and Accutracking software.
