Police identify sex offender in Bonney Lake area

A registered sex offender has moved to the Bonney Lake area. Michael Kenneth Sharp recently was registered as living at a residence in the Prairie Ridge area of the 22000 block of 131st St. Ct. East.

A registered sex offender has moved to the Bonney Lake area. Michael Kenneth Sharp recently was registered as living at a residence in the Prairie Ridge area of the 22000 block of 131st St. Ct. East.

Sharp has recently been released from custody related to a probation violation. He will be under community supervision by the Washington State Department of Corrections. Parents are urged to remind their children to use caution and personal safety measures.

Sharp is not wanted for any current offense. He is believed to be a high risk to re-offend and is classified as a level 3 Sex Offender.

He was convicted of two counts of third degree child rape and third degree attempted rape, involving a 13-year-old and a 14-year-old girl.

Sharp didn't participate in sexual deviancy treatment in 1998 for the attempted rape conviction. He did participate in sex offender treatment for seven months with little gain or results during his incarceration in 2001, according to a Pierce County Sheriff's Department release.

He also has a criminal history that includes possession of stolen property, burglary, second degree theft and many misdemeanor convictions for assault, escape, malicious mischief and theft.

Sharp, 25, is white, with brown hair and green eyes. He is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds.
