Sumner School District student Miya McCarter’s photo, titled “Precious” placed third in Pierce County Library’s “Our Own Expression” writing and art contest this year in the 9th and 10th grade photography category.

More than 672 pieces of art and writing were submitted for the contest, and will be available to see at 7 p.m. on May 27 at Pacific Lutheran University’s Lagerquist Concert Hall.
