There was a lot of jaw dropping and eyebrow raising at the 21st Annual Buckley Flashback Car Show Aug. 8 at the Buckley Log Show Grounds, as despite the overcast skies there were 120 classic car entries and more than 1,000 auto enthusiasts enjoying the six-hour show.

The chrome, paint, trim and carburation were something to behold and most of the cars featured proud owners – hailing from more than 30 cities – next to their classic vehicles, ready to explain how the mechanical marvels came to life.

Included was the Buckley man who resurrected a 1936 Hupmobile from the thorny clutches of a blackberry patch and a another who used a half a tank of gas driving his father’s tricked-out 1936 Ford Flatbed. Getting the Ford to Buckley was apparently worth every nickel, since it took home the spectator’s choice trophy and coolest custom job accolades. How many miles per gallon did the purple, ground-pounding, gas guzzler register in the short jaunt?. Four.
