SUMNER POLICE BLOTTER

ONE-CAR ACCIDENT: At approximately 2:31 a.m. March 21, officers and medical aid responded to the 5900 block of Sumner Tapps Highway for a report of a one-car accident with injuries. When officers arrived they located the four occupants of the vehicle, including one passenger with a head wound. When officers questioned the passengers they all said they didn’t know what happened but the car started spinning and hit a tree in the ditch. It was later determined the driver was speeding and drove over a raised lane divider. During the officer’s contact with the driver he could smell an odor of intoxicants. A blood draw was performed. Charges are pending, awaiting toxicology test results.

BURGLARY: At 6:11 a.m. March 24, an officer responded to the 15700 block of 67th Street Court East for a report of a burglary. The resident advised he woke up and noticed that somebody had taken her wallet and two laptops, and her car was stolen from the driveway. It is believed that it likely was not a random burglary. It is also believed that the suspect is known to the family. It was later reported by another family member that another vehicle at the residence had been moved. The owner said it looked like somebody had driven the vehicle around the block and hit something as the vehicle was now leaking fluids. The owner also pointed out that the radio station had been changed to a station that he does not listen to. Two days later a subject was identified, arrested and booked into Pierce County Jail for residential burglary and theft of a motor vehicle.

YOU GOT SERVED: At approximately 12:44 p.m. March 22, an officer responded to the 1100 block of Wood Avenue to serve a subject with legal papers. Before arriving the officer was advised the subject had several warrants for her arrest. The officer served the subject with her papers and arrested her on her warrants. Among the subject’s property was drug paraphernalia and marijuana; the items were taken as evidence as the subject was now being charged for possessing those items. An officer located identification cards and other types of identification that did not belong to the suspect. She was booked into Puyallup Jail on charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. She was later charged with possession of stolen property in the third degree and possessing another’s identification.
