This last week, Black Diamond held up the permit for the city's 100-year-old Labor Days festival; a Graham man pleaded guilty to the murder of Enumclaw reisdent Nicole White; a local Pony squad claimed the state baseball title but fell in the regional tournament; the Enumclaw School Board is looking for a new member; and the city's street fair and annual Scottish Highland Games are providing entertainment for all ages. Black Diamond council majority holds Labor Day permit

The city’s century-old Labor Day Festival was not approved by the Black Diamond Council during the July 21 meeting. Putting the permit on hold doesn’t automatically jeopardize the festival, the organizers said, but it must be approved on the Aug, 4 meeting in order for the three-day event to go on. Graham man pleads guilty to murder of Nicole White

Last summer, Enumclaw resident Nicole White went missing and was found dead weeks later. Last week, Graham resident Jonathan Daniel Harris pleaded guilty to her assault and murder. His sentencing is in September and may be as large as 26 years. Read more about the case here.

Local Pony squad advances to West tourney, falls defeated

The Plateau Avengers baseball team is playing in Arizona in the Pony League Northwest Region tournament, having earned the title of state champions. Their time in the tourney was cut short after their second loss on Friday, dropping them out of the running. Check out the team here and game results here.

Enumclaw School Board looking for new member

The Enumclaw School District is looking for someone to join its five-member board of directors. A candidate will be chosen by the current board and will serve until the Novmeber election when the position will be on the ballot. Read more about the position and how to apply here.
