Baseball: A slew of Plateau players named to all-league team

When the South Puget Sound League 3A’s talented area senior baseball players hooked up in the senior exhibition games at Auburn Mountainview High School May 25, co-SPSL 3A champion Enumclaw High was well represented.

Named to the team were EHS pitcher Andrew Olson, third baseman Berent Hagan, designated hitter Beau Matthias, Kyle Messer, Josh Grau, Tyler Davis and Beau Rogers. Other area players nominated to strut their stuff in the senior showcase of diamond talent were Jeremy Hoffman of White River High School; Dylan Brown, Kurtis Grams, Brad Dawes and Ryan Journey of Bonney Lake; and Mike Dent of Sumner.

All-SPSL 3A selections

Enumclaw Hornets named to the first team were Olson, Hagan and Matthias, along with sophomore Cody Hughes, who was elected as the league’s top utility player.

Other area players named to the premiere SPSL 3A squad were junior second baseman Michael Anastasi of White River and Sumner High sluggers junior Alex Sloan at catcher and sophomore Brad Falk at first base.

Enumclaw coach Eric Fiedler was voted SPSL 3A Co-Coach of the Year, along with Auburn Mountainview’s Glen Walker.

Named to the all-SPSL 3A second team were EHS junior Grant Hathaway at catcher and White River juniors Dustin Stroud at third base, Payden Lamb in the outfield and Kameron Kujawa at designated hitter.

Recepients of honorable mention recognition were juniors D.J. Reynolds, Connor Williams and Daniel Smith of White River; Rogers, Kailen Bickler, Tyler Davis and Michael Lucarelli of Enumclaw; Evan Carl, Casey Edwards and Tanner Brinkman of Sumner; and Colton Nash, Journey, Brown and Dawes from Bonney Lake.
