BRIEF: Judo club finds rhythm early

Enumclaw’s Ki Haku Judo Club started the fall tournament season at the Rainier Cup in Lakewood, Wash., where Jade Paterson and Gavin Severson placed second in their divisions and Logan Thomas placing fifth in his age group.

The team also traveled to Burlington, Wash., for the Sukuma Judo Tournament where Severson won the 15- and 16-year-old division and took second place in the senior novice division. Thomas placed second among 7- to 9-year olds in the middle weight division and Paterson captured second in her girls’ division.

On Nov. 7, the team will be participating in a national event at Highline Community College. The Continental Crown is a national points tournament with competitors from across the country competing.

Ki Haku Judo Club is part of Enumclaw Parks and Recreation and meets every Monday and Wednesday evening at Enumclaw High.
