Bonney Lake’s Kira Michelson-Bartlett last week signed a letter of intent to play soccer for Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas.

In 2005, she was voted a second-team all-league goalkeeper in the Seamount League. She participated on the varsity soccer team at Bonney Lake High School her freshman and sophomore year and has been a member of the Washington Premier FC ‘90 for the past four years. She also has been a member of the ‘91 Washington State Olympic Development Team for the past five years.

“It was nice to be in a position to address our specific needs that we needed within our program,” said TCU coach Dan Abdalla.

“Kira is a player that has the potential to be a national team goalkeeper for us. She has the mentality and the intangibles that you need in a goalkeeper,” he added. “We’re very excited about adding Kira to our program.”

The Horned Frogs ended the 2008 season 14-4-2, the best record in program history. TCU also climbed as high as No. 24 in the nation during the year.

Michelson-Bartlett carries a grade-point average of 3.383 while participating in honors and advanced placement classes at Bonney Lake High.

She is the daughter of Jeralyn Bartlett and Thomas Michelson.
